What are Reputation/TotalPortal points?

I have a question that I am sure is on some of the members' mind. So I figured that I would ask to satisfy my own curiosity.

What are the Reputation and TotalPortal points used for and/or the meaning of them. (sorry to the admin(s). if my question sound rude and blunt.)

Hey dmk.. no worries.. its not rude or blunt.. you don't know unless you ask right lol.

The Reputation points are merely something that members can use to give points to other members to increase their reputation as being helpful, or decrease it if they are not being helpful or are being rude.. which helps let other members know that a person is trusted by others or not.

As for the My Points system.. this is something that we had implemented a while back to give points for making new threads, posting, and setting up voting polls. Right now the points are worthless.. but there are ideas in the works to put them to use soon, although as for when, we cannot say yet.
